About Dr. DiBernardo of New Jersey Plastic Surgery

Dr. Barry DiBernardo is recognized as a leader in plastic surgery. Dr. DiBernardo is the Medical Director of New Jersey Plastic Surgery® in Montclair, NJ, immediate past President of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons (2005-2006), an Associate Clinical Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at UMDNJ, and Chief of the Aesthetic Surgery Program at Mountainside Hospital. “My job is to keep our practice at the forefront as one of the leading aesthetic plastic surgery practices in this country — striving for excellence in cosmetic procedures and in patient care.” Dr. DiBernardo is a widely published author, committed to providing his patients with the most advanced surgical and non-surgical options making him a sought after expert by the local, regional and national media. A 1984 graduate from Cornell University Medical College, Dr. DiBernardo received the school’s Charles H. Horn Prize for outstanding leadership and service to the medical community. He spent five years as a general surgeon at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, before embarking on a two-year residency in Plastic Surgery at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in N.Y.

In 1991, Dr. DiBernardo began his work in private practice. Also in 1991, he received the Leo M. Davidoff Award for teaching distinction at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and, a year later, the American Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons’ National Scientific Exhibit Award, in Washington D.C.

Dr. DiBernardo is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is the Certified International Instructor for multiple laser and light based systems as well as skin care modalities. His hospital appointments include University Hospital at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark; Mountainside Hospital, Montclair; and Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ.

Laser Tattoo Removal

f you have a tattoo, you are not alone. An estimated 20 million Americans sport tattoos. If you want it removed, you are also not alone-about half of those with tattoos report that they would now like their tattoo to disappear, but without a disfiguring scar left in its wake.

Laser technology has made great strides in eliminating tattoos, so this is a good time to seriously consider tattoo removal. Everything from small, single-color tattoos to large, multi-color tattoos can now be significantly faded, if not completely erased, by the beams of light produced by the lasers. There is little risk of scarring or loss of pigmentation that other lasers and technologies can cause.

Removing a small tattoo of one color may take one or two sessions, while multicolored tattoos may take several sessions, depending on their size and type of ink. Sessions are usually spaced 4 – 8 weeks apart and are performed in the doctor’s office without the costs and risks of hospitalization or general anesthesia. Restylane

Restylane® is used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, facial lines and creases in men and women. Restylane® contains hyaluronic acid, a material that occurs naturally in the body. The improved youthful look that Restylane® provides results for six months or more, almost twice as long as previously used injectables, such as collagen.
